Champions of Europe Chelsea are presently in Abu Dhabi, UAE for the FIFA Club World Cup where they could be crowned champions of the world by winning their next two matches.
The Blues would be up against champions of other continents in the club world cup and they would fancy themselves in the semi-final tomorrow where they face Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal. Though, the Saudi club are no pushovers as they made an emphatic statement last weekend by trashing Al Jazira 6-1 enroute to the semi-final.
The Chelsea squad is in positive spirit but they had traveled on Saturday without coach Thomas Tuchel who had tested positive for Covid-19.
The German will definitely miss Wednesday’s clash against Al Hilal but could make the trip to the final on Sunday if he returns two negative Covid-19 tests.
Tuchel has been in constant contact with his coaching staff despite being in isolation as he’s asked Zsolt Low, Arno Michels and co not to come back empty handed.
Chelsea have been to the club world cup once, in 2012 but ultimately lost the final to Brazilian club Corinthians and they would be hoping to avoid a repeat and clinch their first ever club world cup title this time around.
