Mason Mount names team that could end Chelsea’s club world cup dreams as preparation for tournament hits top gear

Chelsea are presently in the United Arab Emirates for the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup where as champions of Europe they would battle it out with other champions from other continents for the ultimate crown.

Chelsea come up against Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal in the semi-final on Wednesday but midfielder Mason Mount has pointed out one other team that could cause the Blues problems and that is South American champions SE Palmeiras who Mount had watched in the Copa Libertadores final.

“I watched the game with Thiago and Jorgi as we were having food at the hotel. Thiago had his iPad set up at the end of the table so we were able to watch the whole match.” Mount told the Chelsea website.

“Those two are from Brazil so they watch it a lot but I hadn’t seen that many games before. Palmeiras looked a very fiery and aggressive team, very hungry to win.”

It was a Brazilian side (Corinthians) that denied Chelsea from winning their first ever club world cup in 2012 and the Blues would be hoping a repeat of that never happens if at all they come up against Palmeiras in the final.
