Chelsea have literally no issues in their goalkeeping department as they have two very reliable goalkeepers in Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga who have both proven their worth in recent games.
Mendy is the undisputed number one but when the Senegalese was away at the African Cup of Nations in January, Kepa stepped up and made Chelsea fans feel like their FIFA award winning goalkeeper never left.
Kepa has drawn a lot of praises and admirations from fans, pundits and coaches alike and even Edouard Mendy is a great fan of his teammate and the Senegalese didn’t hide his admiration for the Spaniard while speaking to the press ahead of Tuesday’s champions league round of 16 clash vs Lille.
Edouard Mendy: “My relation with Kepa is good since I came here. We have a good relationship. On and outside the pitch. He did really when I was in AFCON, but it didn’t surprise me because I see him everyday at the training ground.”
Edouard Mendy: “I was super happy for him because he deserves it. When you play for Chelsea, you have competition in every position so you have to play your best and on the highest level to be in the team at the weekend.”
Chelsea would most likely receive offers for Kepa in the summer given his recent form but it remains to be known if the West London club will place a hefty price tag on the goalkeeper whom they spent over £70 million on.
