AC Milan make decision on Chelsea flop amidst player’s recent struggles

It was in 2017 French midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in a big money deal with so much expectations.

Things however didn’t turn out as expected for the Frenchman at Stamford Bridge as he was immediately labelled a flop in his first season. Chelsea finished outside the top four in the 2017/18 season and Italian manager Antonio Conte was sacked despite winning the FA Cup, a second successive trophy in what was his second season at the club.

Another Italian, Maurizio Sarri took over in the summer of 2018 and there was no way Bakayoko could fit into the ex Napoli manager’s system as he evidently lacked the needed profile coupled with the fact that he even struggled under Antonio Conte whose system suited him more. Hence, the Frenchman was shipped out on loan to AC Milan for the 2018/19 season.

After successful loan spells at AC Milan and Napoli in the Italian Serie A, Bakayoko joined AC Milan again last summer, this time on a two year loan deal but the midfielder has struggled to rediscover that form he once hit under Genaro Gattusso at the San Siro a few seasons back and AC Milan are now considering cutting his two-year loan spell short and sending him back to Chelsea at the end of the season, per Sport Mediaset via SempreMilan.

This latest development could present some problems for Chelsea as it brings them back to square one in their attempts in trying to permanently get rid of the player who is very unlikely to break into their already stacked midfield.

Bakayoko on the other hand would probably prefer being more certain about his future rather than being tossed around across different clubs on loan deals.
